Last Monday, we brought together founders, operators, and builders at Mejuri’s Flatiron space for what turned out to be one of our favorite evenings yet: an honest conversation about one of the most important tensions in modern commerce.
Lauren Mecca, founder of Tech/ish, joined us to help guide the discussion and brought incredible perspective on where AI is headed and what responsible adoption looks like in practice.

What stood out most was this: people are still actively forming their opinions about AI. When Lauren polled the room on whether AI makes them hopeful for the future of humanity, the results were striking.
31% said yes. 30% said neutral. 31% said no. That near-perfect split captures exactly where many leaders are right now. Paying attention, but not yet settled.
The one area where the room found clear alignment: 77% agreed that AI-generated content that could be mistaken for human content must be clearly labeled. Transparency is no longer optional. It is quickly becoming a baseline expectation that consumers are starting to demand.
We also explored the Pro-Human AI Declaration and what it looks like for brands to take a genuine stance on responsible AI rather than simply keeping pace with adoption.Thank you to Lauren and to every person who showed up and engaged earnestly. And a huge thank you to our partners Papa Luc’s, Treats by KC, and Curious Elixirs for making the evening feel warm and welcoming!
