Introducing Caroline: Rapid Fire Q&A

Brand strategy insights

WRITTEN BY: CAROLINE REEKIE

Hello from London! My name is Caroline Reekie and I wanted to share a little bit about myself to hopefully give you a taste of who I am.  As always further questions are always welcome!

RAPID FIRE Q&A: CAROLINE REEKIE

Q: What is your favourite thing about your career?

A: I started my career in startups where I had hands-on learning of every aspect of the business from navigating investor relations to lifting storage boxes.  This diverse experience and exposure to all functions of business has been my favourite part, and has helped me throughout my career to make decisions that consider the wider business impact

Q: What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep (and why)?

A: 36 hours – I took part in the annual Sleep Out for a UK Youth Homelessness charity, Centrepoint, where we had to stay awake as part of a fundraising event.

Q: What is your proudest accomplishment?

A: Overcoming challenges throughout my life and work has been some of my proudest moments.  These may not be the high notes or one accomplishment, but they often feel more impactful than the highest moment when I look back.

Q: What’s your favourite movie?

A: Since I was a child, I have loved (and watched repeatedly) Calamity Jane

Q: Is your glass half full or half empty?

A: Always half full (with some to spare if you ever find your glass lacking)

Q: Would you rather trade intelligence for looks or looks for intelligence?

A: Intelligence only gets better over time, so 100% intelligence!

Q: Are you an introvert or an extrovert?

A: Often seen as an extrovert, but i am an Omnivert.

Q: If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?

A: Time Travel – to go back and see history and the future unfold, plus meet some of the great people of the past and future.

Q: If money was no object, what would you do all day?

A: Live on a ranch, travel, volunteer and innovate (or fund) new business ideas that change the world for the better.

Q: If you had to describe yourself as an animal, which one would it be?

A: A unicorn, though I have been also described as a Highland Pony! both reflecting my Scottish roots but one reflecting my ability to make magic happen and the other my ability to weather the wilds.

I recently joined Flywheel Strategy to take my consultancy to the next level with a team of expectational talent that share my vision for building businesses for success.

Throughout my career,  I’ve worked with brand new start ups (including founding my own subscription venture) to larger scale ups.  I have worked across the fashion, FMCG and lifestyle product sectors which has given me the ability to understand a wider scope of business.

I am a generalist with a sharp point on brand and marketing but I am not a stranger to working across the wider business from navigating operations to providing the support to investor relations.

Across my career there has been a common calling – Chase the Challenge.  A friend coined this phrase and it has stuck with me as it reinforces my belief that we all need to embrace challenges with a proactive, positive and inclusive approach so we can reach a common solution.  In business, challenges are opportunities to reframe, readdress or reform our approach.

Flywheel Strategy is positioned to aid, enhance and advance organizations who view their product, engineering, design and analytics teams to drive constant innovation and improvement.
